The City of Glidden will be increasing solid waste fees for residents who wish to use two garbage containers for their weekly pickups. The council approved the first reading of an ordinance change earlier this week which would up the fee to $20.76 from $10.38. The change refers to the brown carts used by residents for their garbage disposal. Using an extra cart essentially doubles how long it takes for the garbage collection company, Carroll Refuse Service, to pick up waste with their mechanical trucks. In order to pass the change, the council will need to either complete two more readings of the ordinance or waive the second and third readings. City officials note the change will not affect individuals using only one trash container.
