A new twist on an old favorite is taking place tonight, thanks to Mark Thomsen, General Manager and Co-owner of Motor Inn Toyota of Carroll and his staff. They are hosting a completely free outdoor movie at the band shell in Graham Park beginning at 9 p.m. tonight. Originally scheduled for Wednesday, Thomsen says they had to make a change to their schedule because of Mother Nature.
Thomsen actually got the idea a while back after a family vacation in St. Louis, Mo. After the traditional attractions, they logged onto their Chamber of Commerce website for activity ideas.
The movie, “Are We There Yet?” will be shown on a 21-foot inflatable screen by a company that specializes in these types of productions. This ensures it will be easy to see and hear the movie in the outdoor theater. Thomsen says the movie is actually the same one that he and his family saw in St. Louis.
There will also be fresh popcorn and water available for about 150 to 200 people. Thomsen says be ready to have some fun, but bring along a blanket or a few lawn chairs. He is also hoping that this can become a regular summertime event in years to come, so he is encouraging everyone who enjoys the movie to find one of his staff members in a bright yellow shirt and tell them to do it again.
