Firm Selected For CCSD Superintendent Search Already Seeking Input From Stakeholders

The Carroll Community School District (CCSD) Board of Education has selected the firm that will be leading them during their search for a new superintendent. During a special work session Wednesday morning, the board reviewed bids from Ray & Associates, of Cedar Rapids, for $7,000 and another from Grundmeyer Leader Search, of Des Moines, for $10,000. Board President Jen Munson, says is it important to note the bid amounts were offered in different ways.

Grundmeyer Leader Search was awarded the contract unanimously. Munson notes they are confident in their choice due to past experience with the firm’s owner, Trent Grundmeyer. He served as interim principal at Carroll High School before current principal, Tammie McKenzie, was selected to fill the role. Munson says his firm also offers a selection program that they just did not see from anybody else.

According to Munson, this ensures a hire will fit into the district’s culture easily. After being selected, Grundmeyer went to work immediately putting a stakeholder survey together for parents, residents and students within the district. Munson says it is important for everybody to take the time to fill the survey out.

That survey can be found by following the link included with this story on our website and is open until Sunday, Dec. 31. The board is now aiming to have a candidate selected by March 18, 2018. The search for a superintendent began less than a week ago with the announcement Monday current superintendent, Rob Cordes, was one of the 10 district employees approved for early retirement.
