Fireball Run Filming In Sac City Thursday

The 11th season of the Fireball Run, a life-sized Trivial Pursuit game, is in the area today (Wednesday) and tomorrow (Thursday) for filming of the real-time series. After spending Wednesday in Fort Dodge, they will film the “Big Country” stop in Sac City on Thursday. Brandy Ripley, executive director at Sac Economic and Tourism Development, says racers, including team members from Iowa, will be given missions that lead them to under-discovered destinations and historic experiences. In Sac City, the racers will begin downtown, head to the museum and discover something special about a uniform inside. And, they probably won’t be able to leave the county without seeing the famous world’s largest popcorn ball. Fireball Run is not just a competition for bragging rights, it is also America’s largest active recovery effort for missing kids through its alternative identity as the “Race for Missing Children.” Ripley says each team is assigned a missing child from their hometown and they hand out fliers on their 2,000 mile journey through Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota and South Dakota. To date, the race has been responsible for recovering almost 50 missing kids. Everyone is invited to welcome contestants to town by bringing their signs and banners and some cheers to the Sac County Courthouse at around 9:30 a.m. Thursday. The series will livestream on Amazon in 2018.  For more details, follow the link below
