U.S. Senator Joni Ernst is the first female combat veteran to serve in the Senate. She sits on the Senate Armed Services Committee and has just announce her appointment as Subcommittee Chair on Emerging Threats and Capabilities. She says the threats of ISIS and other radical groups continues to grow and that the U.S. is seeing more aggression from Russia and Iran. As Chair, Ernst says she will focus on technology advancements that can upgrade service members’ weapons systems and ways to counter the rising aggressions and threats from Russia and ISIS.
