Iowa’s winter home heating moratorium ended Saturday, April 1, and the Iowa Utilities Board is reminding customers protected under the Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) or Weatherization assistance that potential natural gas or electric service disconnections may begin today (Monday). Any customers on either of these programs who is having difficulty in paying their bills should contact their local utility immediately to discuss payment options or a payment agreement to avoid service disconnection. The Iowa Utilities Board customer service staff members are available to assist those whose issues are not resolved directly with their local utility company. They can be contacted toll free at 877-565-4450.
