Eight Candidates For Four Open Seats At IKM-Manning To Meet The District At Public Forum

Unlike most area school districts who are struggling to find volunteers willing to run for seats on their local board of education, the IKM-Manning School District is seeing double the number of potential candidates versus open seats. For the upcoming Sept. 12 election, district residents will be selecting from eight individuals to fill four open spots. To give the voting public a chance to be well informed and to get to know all the candidates a little better, the IKM-Manning Education Association will be hosting a question and answer forum. District residents on the ballot include: incumbent Amy Ferneding and newcomer, Larry Blake, who are both running for the District 1B seat; Ron Reischl, who is the only candidate for the District 2B position; and incumbent Sam Hansen, Kathy Blake, Lucas Potthoff, Mike Blum and Brandi Perdew, who are all vying for one of the two at-large seats on the board of education. Everyone is invited to prepare questions and join the candidates from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 31 at the IKM-Manning High School auditorium in Manning.
