Educational Fun On The Agenda For Carroll Kids’ Health And Safety Fair

The Kids’ Health and Safety Fair will be going on in conjunction with Carrollfest on Saturday, Aug. 12, and Sgt. Gary Bellinghausen with the Carroll Police Department is helping organize this year’s event. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday at Graham Park, he says, there will be about 22 vendors on hand to give kids exposure to fun, healthy and safe things for them to do. The bicycle rodeo is a popular event from year-to-year.

The City of Carroll does have an ordinance requiring lights on bicycles for nighttime use. Bellinghausen adds that kids will also learn about the hand signals they can use to be safer on the roadways. The rodeo will be going on all throughout the day, and vendors will be covering a broad spectrum of safety and health topics.

As in years past, another popular attraction is the presence of the local emergency authorities who provide kids with a close-up look at their vehicles and equipment and answer questions about what they do on a daily basis. A rescue helicopter will be on hand at Graham Park, weather permitting, as well as a smokehouse.

Drawings for several free items are also going to take place during the Kids’ Health and Safety Fair.
