Democrat, Kim Weaver Sees Surge In Support After Announcing Run Against Incumbent Steve King In 2018

Last week, Democrat Kim Weaver announced her intentions to run against incumbent, Congressman Steve King, in the 2018 4th Congressional District election. Since that announcement she has received over 50 new endorsements, gained over 22,000 new followers on her Facebook and Twitter campaign pages, had more than 400 volunteers sign up to assist with her campaign and raised just under $180,000 from over 6,800 individual donations. “We’re overwhelmed at the support and attention this campaign is receiving,” Weaver said. “The number of people stepping up to volunteer is what’s going to fuel our field program across the district and give us a real chance to win this election.” Weaver added that the average donation made to date is around $26, and she will not be accepting any money from Corporate PACs, saying she is not running to represent them, she is running to represent the people of northwest Iowa.
