Cost Of A Taxi Ride Going Up In Denison Nov. 1

The cost of a taxi trip in Denison is going up due to an increase in transportation expenses. The Emerald Cab Company is upping prices by 50 cents from $2.50 to $3 effective Nov. 1. The company is contracted through the Region XII Council of Governments to provide transportation services to disabled or elderly individuals in town. Tickets books were sold in packs of 10 for $25 in the past, but those sales will cease on Oct. 20. The tickets will still be accepted until Oct. 31. Following that date, tickets must be accompanied by an additional 50 cents to be accepted until Dec. 31 when the tickets are no longer valid. The $25 ticket books can be traded in for a book of new, more expensive tickets for an additional five dollars if no tickets have been used. For any questions regarding the price change, contact the Region XII Transit Director, Tom Feldman, by calling 792-9914.
