The annual road maintenance contract for streets in Coon Rapids has been awarded, but the city indicates the exact date when the work will be completed is still not known. The contract was awarded to Blacktop Services, of Humboldt, with their bid coming at $1.47 per square yard with approximately 28,000 square yards expected to be treated with a seal coating. Last year, the north/south roads were treated, and this year the east/west roads will receive the coating. The date the $41,000 project will take place is not yet set as this type of treatment requires a hot, dry day to be done properly. The city performs this maintenance every year and is usually completed in a single day. Citizens should not expect major disruptions when the work does occur.
