Comedy Duo Uses Humor To Educate In Carroll Public Library’s Next Summer Reading Show

The Carroll Public Library’s summer reading presentation next week brings a comedy duo using humor as a means to connect with a young crowd. Anybody with elementary-school-aged children knows it can be difficult to keep their attention, and the performing couple, Jay Cady and Leslie Seifert-Cady, use the whimsical nature of kids to help them learn.

The duo has been on the road for more than 30 years with nearly 6,000 shows in 35 states and seven foreign countries. Juggling, miming and magic tricks all play a role in parts of the show. Jay says their act may remind many parents or grandparents of shows from their childhood.

According to Jay, one lucky member of the audience will have the chance to plan a portion of the show themselves.

The duo incorporates the library’s Summer Reading Program Theme, Build a Better World, into the show. The Laughing Matters show has two performances on Tuesday, July 11 at 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. in the Kuemper Holy Spirit Gym. The show is free and open to the public.
