Four Carroll High School (CHS) juniors’ English project is now inspiring hope in the halls of St. Anthony Regional Hospital’s (SARH) Oncology Department. The 4’ x 8’ panel, titled “I’m Alone”, was put together by Jordann Murray, Kara Seidl, Josh Luft and Parker Klocke. After a rough start deciding what to focus on for their project, Luft says they realized they shared something in common.

The group decided a medium to show cancer patients how many people truly understand their struggle would be a good way to do that. The piece is mostly blank with the words “I’m Not Alone” painted across the center. Once put together, the students hauled it down to the Relay for Life event in June to have survivors sign it. Murray and Seidl say that was when they realized it was so much more than just an assignment.

Klocke says he head many people express their thanks for the work, but none impacted him more than from his grandmother.

The piece now sits just outside of the St. Anthony Oncology Ward. Plans for additional plans are still uncertain, but the group says they would be fully behind future grades turning the idea into a yearly tradition.
