Certain Government Buildings In Glidden Essentially Free To Rent After Policy Change

The Glidden City Council has approved changes to some of its rental policies, essentially reducing the cost to zero for residents to make use of several facilities in town. At a meeting on Monday, concerns were raised about how almost all of the rental requests coming into city hall were for the recently completed Kruger Shelter House. City Clerk, Suzy Danner, says the council considered eliminating fees for some of their buildings.

The deposit for the shelter houses in Northland and City Parks and the City Council Meeting room are only $25. The buildings were not intended to generate large amounts of revenue. Danner says it just makes sense for the city to encourage their use.

The shelter houses have been used for all sorts of events, such as graduations, parties, reunions and much more. With the associated costs being eliminated, the city expects rental requests to increase quickly. If you have an event scheduled, it is best to make those reservations sooner rather than later.

Rental requests can be completed at the Glidden City Hall during regular operating hours. They are open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
