CCSD Staff And Facilities Ready To Welcome Students Back On Aug. 23

Summer has gone by quickly and it is about time for students to head back to the classrooms at the Carroll Community School District (CCSD). Eight new teachers will be joining the staff at three different buildings: two at Carroll Middle School, four at Carroll High School and two at Fairview Elementary. The district has seen some physical changes as well. The west gym at Fairview was repainted over the summer, steps on the east and west entrances to Adams were removed and a number of maintenance projects were completed. Superintendent, Rob Cordes says this summer will likely be the last for major work, at least for a few years.

The stadium is slated for deconstruction following the end of the football season. In addition to the physical changes, Cordes says there are a few new policies families should take note of.

Once a lunch balances reaches negative $40, students will no longer be able to charge to their account. Another big change is the district’s move to host all student registration online. Cordes says this method will make registration easier for the district and families. Instructions on how to register can be found at www.carroll.k12.ia.us.

School starts for kindergarten through 12th grade with a full day on Wednesday, Aug. 21. Besides the normal holiday vacations, students will be getting an additional break from classes this year on Oct. 23, 24 and 25.

Open houses for kindergarten through eighth-graders will be held on Aug. 21 from 5 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. A required orientation for freshman students is also that Monday at 3:30 p.m. in the Carroll High commons. Chromebook checkout for students, including those from Ar-We-Va will be held on Monday, Aug. 21 from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Tuesday, Aug. 22 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the commons. Students must be registered to pick up their laptops.
