Carroll Receives Only One Bid For Streetscape Phase 8

The City of Carroll recently requested bids for the completion of phase eight of the Streetscape project that will see work done on West, Fifth and Main Streets as well as the northeast access road and the Fourth Street parking lot. Director of Public Works, Randy Krauel, says they received only one bid from Badding Construction Company for $1,294,844.41.

Krauel explains why he believes there was only one bid submitted for phase eight as well as for the last segment, phase seven that was completed two years ago, even though they had reached out to other contractors with the project information.

Krauel adds they have been well satisfied with this contractor’s work and the pricing. With this bid added to the design and supplemental service, the entire cost of the project is now estimated to be $1,421,980.41, which is within the set budget. There has been no start date set on the project as of yet. The work includes four-inch thick walks and eight-inch thick street paving and drives along with patching and concrete pavers, curb and gutter, removal of three storm sewer structures and the construction of five new ones, 34 linear feet of new storm sewer piping, landscaping and traffic control. More details about the streets impacted can be found below.
