As renovations continue at Merchants Park in Carroll, organizers are prepping for another successful year of Merchants baseball. They have recently announced that Zak Larkin of Truman State will be the new head coach for 2017, leading a full roster of talented athletes from around the country. What the Carroll Merchants need from the community, is help in finding housing for these students during the season. Nearly all of the players will need a place to stay in June, July and the first week of August and staff members are asking Carroll residents to consider hosting a player. Host families will provide room and board and the players will abide by the rules of the household, contribute to daily activities and, generally, become a part of the family for the season. Many of the players will hold down part-time jobs and be active in the community in addition to the many hours spent practicing and playing in games.
