Carroll Library/City Hall Steering Committee To Meet And Pare Down Temporary Space Options For Recommendation

The Carroll Public Library and City Hall steering committee will be meeting again this week to discuss leasing options. The committee has been tasked with determining what savings can be realized by relocating the library and city offices to allow for a continuous remodel of the Farner Government and Commercial Savings Bank buildings. The group conducted tours of five different properties on Oct. 12, two proposed to house the library and three possibilities for city offices. At the conclusion of that meeting, City Manager, Mike Pogge-Weaver, says the group requested more information.

Those two buildings were suggested for temporary library space. Pogge-Weaver says they are also looking for additional options for city hall space as the proposals they received are not ideal.

Pogge-Weaver says that the former Tractor Supply and former Walmart buildings do have some additional space and they are also talking about costs to combine the library and city hall in that available footprint.

The next meeting to go over the proposed revisions and to discuss recommendations for the Carroll City Council will begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25 in the council chambers at city hall. The public is invited to attend.
