Carroll County Supervisors Name New Chair And Vice Chair For 2017

The first order of business in 2017 for the Carroll County Board of Supervisors was the appointment of Richard Ruggles to the 5th District seat and to elect a new chair and vice chair for the board. 2016 Chair, Neil Bock opened the meeting and accepted a motion and a second to name Gene Meiners as the new chairman, which passed on a unanimous vote. Bock said he had just a few words he would like to say before vacating his seat.

He also highlighted the fun they had with the courthouse anniversary rededication, the work being done by the jail committee to study options and the closing of Mallard View at the end of the year. Bock added that in not one of these instances did any single person resolve any of the issues, they did it as a team and he has been honored and privileged to have been their representative over the past year. Meiners thanked everyone for their support.

He said the board has always worked well together as one entity and he wants to see that continue. He added that Carroll County has a lot going for it, and they need to remain in the driver’s seat. His first act as chair was to move that Marty Danzer be named Vice Chairman for 2017. This motion also passed on a unanimous vote.
