Carroll County Public Health Encourages Families To Take Advantage Of Flu Shot Clinic During CCSD Conferences

Carroll County Public Health is teaming up with the Carroll Community School District (CCSD) to encourage families to get a flu shot while attending parent teacher conferences next week. A clinic will be held at each of the district’s four buildings on two separate dates. The first sessions are Monday, Oct. 9 from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Fairview Elementary School and from 3:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Carroll High School. The second date is Thursday, Oct. 12 with clinics at Adams Elementary and the Carroll Middle Schools from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The cost of a flu shot is $30, and Carroll County Public Health will also be able to bill certain insurance providers, including Medicare, Medicaid, United Health Care, Coventry and Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield. Flu shots generally take two weeks after the dose to provide protection from illness. Flu season generally begins near the end of October. The clinic is open to the public and parents with children of all ages are encouraged to attend.
