Carroll County ISU Extension Offers Commercial Manure Applicator Training Jan. 4

The Iowa State University (ISU) Extension and Outreach Carroll County Office, in conjunction with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR), is encouraging commercial manure applicators to attend a training program scheduled for early next month. All currently certified manure applicator licenses will expire on March 1, 2018 and applicators will need to recertify by that date. The next training seminar will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 4 at the Swan Lake Education Center. The workshop will provide the required three hours of annual training and covers rules for applicators, land-application requirements, frozen ground regulations, spill response and many similar topics. There is no fee to attend the workshop, but commercial applicators must register by Thursday, Dec. 28 by calling 792-2364. If applicators cannot attend the workshop, the office is holding a repeat showing the second Tuesday of each month at 8:30 a.m. For a $10 fee, participants can still view the required materials on an unscheduled date.
