Carroll County 4-H’ers Recognized For Communications And Performing Arts At Iowa State Fair

Carroll County 4-H’ers were recognized for their communications skills at the Iowa State Fair. There were three main areas of competition for oral communications: educational presentations; working exhibits; and extemporaneous speaking, with one category of visual communication. Alexandria Klein of Carroll received an excellent rating with her Melodic Physics of Strings educational presentation and Annie Ankenbauer and Jayden Heinrichs of Dedham received a merit award for their educational presentation on How to Make Bath Bombs. Around 100 youth perform each day at the fair in the Share-The-Fun vocal, instrumental, music, dance, humorous skits, monologues or specialty acts, according to Mitchell Hoyer, program coordinator for Iowa State University Extension 4-H Youth Development. The Carroll Confident Crusaders club participated in the Share-The-Fun event with a performance titled Your Future Starts Here, and Olivia Tomka of Carroll played the piano. Performers receive comments from the judge, but are not ranked.
