Carroll County 4-Her Hits One Out Of The Park With Fan Favorite Fair Entry

Twelve-year-old Bryton Treadway says his dad, Wes, is a life-long Dodger’s fan, but that didn’t stop him from using his love for the Chicago Cubs to create an attention-getting 4-H entry at the Carroll County Fair. Bryton started about a month ago on a project made from nine Rubik’s Cubes.

He selected a background for his artwork and then created the famous Cubs C logo which was then framed for the fair display. Bryton adds that the project took a total of about five to seven hours and, from the first idea to creation, it was something that was a fun and easy fit.

Bryton’s project was judged on Tuesday, and has been one of his two entries that were selected to move on to the Iowa State Fair in August. The eye-catching artwork has even garnered attention from the Chicago area as his piece was featured in an article on the CSN Chicago website. The Carroll County Fair starts today (Thursday) and the project will be on display through Sunday in the exhibit hall in the Iowa State Fair exhibit section. Bryton says that he and his family are excited to see his projects at the State Fair, but the process of judging there is different than what his 4-H club, the Carroll Clovers, are accustomed to at the county level.

How to create a piece of art from a common object has not been the only lesson Bryton has learned. While working on it, he also found out he has a knack for solving the difficult cube puzzle and has become a Rubik’s Cube speed solver. Bryton has been a member of the Carroll Clovers 4-H Club for four years and his banana bread entry will also be moving on to the Iowa State Fair this year. This aspiring robotic engineer will be entering the 7th grade at the Carroll Middle School this fall.
