Carroll Council To Start Monday’s Meeting With Tour Of Waste Water Treatment Plant

Monday’s Carroll City Council meeting is going to convene at the regular time, 5:15 p.m., but at an alternate location. City Manager, Mike Pogge-Weaver, says this was at the request of some of the council members.

Pogge-Weaver says they will obviously be discussing their new wastewater discharge permit from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) over the next couple of years.

The group will then travel to the site of a nuisance tree abatement that is on the agenda for discussion. They are expected to reconvene in the second-floor council chambers at the Farner Government Building at around 6 p.m. Following the approval of a number of liquor licenses, the council will review the design services agreement with Confluence on the phase nine Corridor of Commerce Downtown Streetscape. Phase nine includes parts of Clark and 5th Street. They will then discuss some testing done at Commercial Savings Bank for the new Carroll City offices.

Coming up at a later time, there will be a contract to remove some asbestos at the Commercial Savings Bank building and the Farner Government building. The council will then discuss that nuisance tree abatement at 632 East 2nd St. and consider waiving the purchasing policy for starting blocks for the Carroll Rec Center pool. The Carroll Area Swim Team has held fundraisers to help offset the cost of the new blocks. Again, the meeting will get underway at 5:15 p.m. at the waste water treatment plant at 1400 East Anthony St. on Monday night. The public is invited to attend.
