Carroll Businesses Shop For A Cause At First Lions Club Grocery Grab

This morning (Monday), several area businesses got together for some quick shopping to benefit local food pantries at the first ever Carroll Lions Club Grocery Grab. Area businesses were asked to put together a team of three people who would shop together for just five minutes to gather items on a list provided to them. The team was not allowed to use calculators or cell phones and had to get as close to $250 without going over as possible with all the listed items. Ashley Ricke, with the Lions Club, explained how they came up with the idea.

But one of the teams decided they would do their own thing instead.

American Home Shield took home the traveling trophy with a total of $249.71. Ricke says it was not too hard to throw the Grocery Grab together as so many people were excited to help out.

Donations are still coming in, but Ricke says it looks like they will be over $4,500. Hy-Vee did not have a team, but they wanted to help out and donated over $250. Ricke adds that some of the other teams that didn’t quite get to the $250 amount on their spree pitched in to bring it up to that total. Totals of what each team raised can be found with this story on our website.
