The Sac City Police Department is investigating a burglary that left VFW Post 590 with thousands in damage and stolen property. The building at 409 North 5th Street was broken into through a window on Sunday, Jan. 22 in the late evening or early morning hours. Four digital gambling machines and a jukebox were destroyed. The money within the machines was stolen along with several cartons of cigarettes. The total cost in damage and losses are still not known but are estimated to be in the thousands of dollars. An investigation into the incident is ongoing, and authorities are asking for individuals who may have information to contact the Sac City Police department at 712-662-7772 or stop in to speak with an officer.
