Buena Vista Student Arrested On Forgery Charges

A Buena Vista University (BVU) student from Chicago has been arrested and charged with four counts of forgery, class D felonies, possession of a controlled substance—marijuana—a serious misdemeanor, and possession of stolen property. Twenty-one-year-old Kevin Kee was taken into custody by the Storm Lake Police Department at approximately 5 p.m. Tuesday afternoon and booked into the Buena Vista County jail on a $5,000 bond. The charges stem from an investigation into a report the department received on Thursday, March 6 about a theft from a vehicle parked on the BVU campus and subsequent check forgeries totaling $2,000. The investigation led to the execution of a search warrant at approximately 2 p.m. on April 11 in a dorm room in Pierce Hall, where the officers located and seized stolen blank checks, forged checks, a debit card, receipts and a small amount of marijuana. The Buena Vista Security Department assisted with the investigation.
