Bloodies, Bikes, Bags, BBQ And Bands Event To Benefit Kellan’s Kingdom

Matt, Andy and Amy Ramaekers have taken the second year of their Bloodies, Bikes, Bags, BBQ and Bands party and added a philanthropic twist. Amy says they decided this year they were going to have fun while also raising money for Kellan’s Kingdom, Carroll’s first all-inclusive playground. According to Amy, her daughters, 22-year-old Mallory and 16-year-old Kate, have helped with Kellan Tigges’ care since he was born with a condition similar to that of cerebral palsy. They have seen firsthand how important it is for seven-year-old Kellan to be able to interact and play, just like the other kids. Matt’s idea to turn the second annual event into a fundraiser was just a natural fit. Saturday, Oct. 21 will be filled with family-friendly activities at Amy and Andy’s home at 24510 215th Street in Carroll beginning at 11 a.m. with a Bloody Mary bar. Weather permitting, participants are invited to take a bike ride from Swan Lake East Side Shelter House to Whiskey Run in Maple River, and then back in time for the Cory Waller band at 2 p.m. They will be followed up at 4 p.m. by the 35th and Taylor band and then the Tyler Richton and High Bank Boys band at 6:30 p.m. Closing out the evening, well-known Carroll area rockers, Bad Authority, will hit the stage from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. Throughout the day there will be kid’s activities, bags games and amateur BBQ samplings that the attendees will supply input on for the 5 p.m. judging that will land one lucky contestant prize money. The cost for adults is $20, but that includes food, games and music. Kids will get in free. Space is limited to 300 and tickets can be purchased through the link or phone number included below. If tickets are still available, they will also be sold on site this Saturday. Attendees are asked to bring a blanket or chairs, beverages of choice, a snack or dessert and amateur BBQ if they would like to compete in the contest.
