For the past 56 years, the Bill Riley Talent Search has been giving young Iowans stage experience that will help them build self-esteem, self-discipline and self-confidence through the performing arts. They will be kicking off a new season with local competitions in Ida Grove and Boone in July. Children who are two to 12 years old can register to compete in the Sprout Division while those 13 to 21 years old can register in the Senior Division. Both counties will showcase the talent searches at their County Fairs, with Boone’s scheduled for Sunday, July 16 at 1 p.m. and Ida County’s for Friday, July 21 at 8 p.m. The winning act from each division will qualify to compete at the Iowa State Fair in Des Moines, Aug. 10 through Aug. 20. This year’s prize money for the Hy-Vee-sponsored event will top $17,000. Information on how to register for the different performances can be found below.
