Audubon Community Schools Announces Participation In 2017 Summer Food Service Program

The Audubon Community School District announced Monday it will be participating in the 2017 Summer Food Service Program to make available nutritious food options when school is out of session for the summer break. As a part of the program, meals will be provided at no cost to all children 18 years of age and younger at the Audubon Elementary School cafeteria. The food is provided regardless consideration of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability. The service begins on Monday, June 5 and lasts through the summer break to Friday, Aug. 18. Meals will be served on a first-come, first-served basis from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. There will be no service on Tuesday, July 4 for the holiday. The Summer Food Service Program is a part of the United States Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service and estimates they will serve more than 200 million meals throughout the county this summer.
