The City of Auburn is hosting their first-ever community party this weekend to raise funds for a long-desired project. Tomorrow (Saturday) from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., the Auburn Hometown Pride Committee will be at the Auburn baseball field with concessions and inflatable attractions for people to gather. Near the start of the event, riders participating in the recently revived “Bike around Sac County” tour are making a stop in Auburn to join the fun. Money raised from the event will go towards the proposed one-mile concrete Grant Park Trail. The trail is projected to cost nearly $500,000 and if funded, will connect Auburn to the Grant County Park north of town near historic Grant City. The planning committee is still in the very early stages and are pursuing grants for the project, but those grants often require some sort of matching funds, which will be generated through the event.
