Arrest Made After Verbal Altercation With Carroll Police Monday

A Carroll man was arrested Monday evening after a verbal dispute with officers from the Carroll Police Department. At approximately 9:10 p.m. authorities were at the Meadow Wood Apartments at 1010 Woodland Dr. investigating a case in the area when they witnessed 39-year-old Matthew Lengeling arrive on a bicycle. Lengeling approached the officers and was upset they had searched his family’s apartment for a BB gun. Law enforcement had received permission from an occupant prior to entering the residence. Lengeling continued yelling at the officers and reportedly flicked a cigarette at one of them. He was warned if he did not calm down he would be arrested. Lengeling continually shouted obscenities while walking away from the scene. He was taken into custody. During a search of his person, a prescription bottle containing 14 pills of methadone was located. The label had been worn off, making it unclear for who the drugs were originally intended. Lengeling is charged with disorderly conduct and possession of a controlled substance, both simple misdemeanors.
