There has been quite a bit road widening and resurfacing work being done throughout the county. It had come to brief stop, however as, according to Carroll County Engineer, Dave Paulson, the contractor was pulled away to work on another job for a brief period of time.
Paulson was asked by Supervisor Dean Schettler, how much work was left on Mahogany Ave. south towards Swan Lake.
He also addressed a question on whether or not rumble strips were being incorporated into the new shoulders. Paulson says they are not a part of the contracted work and he is not aware of studies on their benefits on roads such as these.
Paulson adds that hopefully, the problem with degradation on the sides of the roads from heavy-equipment traffic will be mitigated with the widening that is taking place. Again, work on these area roadways is expected to get back underway this week, beginning with the Halbur blacktop.
