Area Businesses Invited To Participate In IKM-Manning STEM Festival

The IKM-Manning GALA 2017 raised more than $95,000 to support Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) education in the school district, and students and businesses will get a chance to learn more from each other at the IKM-Manning STEM Festival on Monday, April 24. Students in grades six through 12 will be given the opportunity to make “tour stops” at various businesses and participate in a STEM activity related to the industry. They can choose to connect with agriculture, finance, marketing, management, human services, health sciences, applied science, technology, engineering, manufacturing and more during the morning sessions. Afterward, they are all invited to participate in a new event this year, the Hackathon. This 45- to 60-minute event has businesses presenting a real-world problem to students, who will work in teams to find solutions. The afternoon will feature keynote speakers and then the students will set up displays for STEM Night, journal or hold open discussion. Any businesses interested in participating in the STEM Festival and or the Hackathon can get more information through the contact points detailed below.
