Area Asphalt Resurfacing Slated For This Spring

Carroll County has been working in conjunction with the Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) to resurface approximately nine miles of roads in the Halbur and Templeton areas and south of Carroll on Mahogany Ave. County Engineer, Dave Paulson, said now that the bids have been received, the directives from the DOT are to award or reject the contracts. They then get the contractors bonds and certificate of insurance before contracts can be signed by the county and the DOT. The low bid for this project came in from an Atlantic contractor.

The cost of asphalt is drastically different this year, which Paulson said has resulted in a sizeable cost savings for the county on the resurfacing.

Widening of the roads is also included as a part of the cost.

Paulson said he is expecting the asphalt to come in as soon as early May.
