Students in the Ar-We-Va Community School District will be released early today (Friday) due to expected high temperatures. Classes will operate on the regular two-hour early dismissal schedule with dismissal at 1:31 p.m. The afternoon Ar-We-Va preschool program will be held, but those students will also be dismissed at 1:31 p.m. Temperatures are expected to reach into the 90s today with humidity pushing the heat index near 100 degrees. The school building in Westside does not currently have air conditioning, but that is something the district is looking to address with the recent renewal of a Physical Plant and Equipment Levy (PPEL) on Sept. 12.
