Ar-We-Va AimingTo Implement TLC Program By The End Of January

Schools across the state have started implementing Teacher Leadership and Compensation (TLC) programs, and Ar-We-Va Community School District is well on their way to have theirs in place this month. The goal is for all schools to have TLCs by the 2016-17 school year. Superintendent, Jeff Kruse, says they only have a few more steps before the system is ready.

In 2013, the Iowa legislature passed a bipartisan bill providing funding and guidelines for schools implementing TLC systems. This year, the bill sets aside $150 million in state funds to be distributed to schools using the new plan. Kruse says the program aims for one primary outcome.

Teacher leaders take on extra-responsibilities like analyzing data, adjusting education practices, teaching and co-teaching to make student success a reality.
