These bags for holding cell phones block all incoming and outgoing cell signals and serve as a reminder to put your phone away and avoid distractions while behind the wheel. “As one of the nation’s oldest and largest traffic safety organizations, AAA-The Auto Club Group, is always happy to support educational and enforcement campaigns in seeking to reduce the carnage on our roadways,” says Gail Weinholzer, Director of Public Affairs for AAA. Sgt. Scott Bright, the Public Resource Coordinator for the Iowa State Patrol, adds that his agency is committed to doing everything they can to educate motorists on the dangers of cell phone use in vehicles as well as protecting everyone who travels on our roadways. “Technology has become one of the biggest threats to the safety and welfare of the motoring public,” Bright says, “and we are dedicated to both enforcement and continued education with the goal of reducing traffic crashes and fatalities in Iowa and across the nation.” Statistics show that more than two in three drivers report talking on their cell phone while driving in the past month and nearly one in three say they do it frequently. More than 31 percent of drivers admit to typing or sending a text message or email while driving in the past month, and over 40 percent report reading a text message or email.
