There will be two major construction projects beginning soon as the Carroll City Council has opened bids for the Third Street Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) Resurfacing and the creation of two Carroll Trail segments. The Iowa Department of Transportation received three bids for the Third Street resurfacing on March 21, and the lowest bid was presented by OMG Midwest, doing business as Tri-State Paving of Estherville at $777,872. City Manager, Mike Pogge-Weaver said they were pleased with the bid that came in below the construction estimate.
The second bid opening took place on April 11, with two sealed bids received for trail segments A and B in Carroll.
The low bid of $606,328 by Howery Construction, Inc. of Rockwell City was also well below the estimated construction costs.
The council unanimously approved the resolutions for awarding the bids to Tri-State Paving and Howery Construction.
