A $50 Forged Check Leads To Felony Charges For Carroll Woman

Forgery charges have been filed against a Carroll woman for issuing a check she did not own. According to the Carroll Police Department, 39-year-old Letitia Lynn Hightower took a check from the victim’s checkbook without their knowledge or permission and used it at Walmart for about $50 on Saturday, Dec. 9. An investigation into the incident found video evidence of Hightower writing the check. She was arrested Friday, Dec. 15 and charged with forgery, a class D felony.  If found guilty of the charge, Hightower faces up to five years imprisonment and a maximum of $7,500 in fines.
