With Summer’s Ending Fall Fest Is One Of Your Last Chanes To Enjoy The Year’s Final Warm Days

Summer already seems to be long gone, but some people in the region think that is no reason to not spend time outside. The Carroll County Conservation Board (CCCB) is hosting an event, not to mourn summer, but to celebrate autumn with their annual Fall Fest. Matt Wetrich, naturalist with the CCCB, has been working with the event for more than 10 years and says it is a great way to get out and enjoy nature to the fullest. Learning a bit about life without electricity is just another benefit of Fall Fest.

Not only can attendees learn about Dutch ovens, free food will be available as well as apple cider from Deal’s Orchard in Jefferson. Families can engage in crafts and disengage from technology during the event. Wetrich made special note that pumpkin bowling will be available and usually draws a bit of a crowd. He adds their purpose is to encourage people to get up and out into nature.

Fall Fest falls on Saturday, Oct. 22 this year and takes place at Swan Lake State Park. The event begins at 11 a.m. at the Education Center and is free of charge.
