This year’s presidential campaigns have been filled with a larger amount of pomp and circumstance than elections in the past, and with that in mind, Ranker.com has created a list of rock stars that would make the best president. Music and politics have shared the stage for much of music’s history, and musicians have long used their fame to push issues and shed light on concerns they find important. Paul Simon, from the famed duo of Simon and Garfunkel, topped the list of rockers the public thinks should run the country. The rest of the top five is a pretty tight race with Bruce Springsteen coming in second. The Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl was close behind in third, followed by Rock and Roll Hall-of-Famer Alice Cooper. After Cooper, support for the musicians begins to wane, but Dave Matthews did finish out the top five. A woman does not appear on the list until the 14th spot, and Joan Jett is the highest ranked female rock star in this position. The list is an evolving one with people able to vote for the stars they would like to see in the Oval Office.
