The Wellmark Foundation is now accepting proposals for the Matching Assets to Community Health (MATCH) grants. The MATCH grant is designed to support larger projects that build on the unique assets and health needs in a local community. The term “matching grant” means an organization is required to raise some amount of money to match the grant amount. Wellmark is seeking proposals that address community-based approaches promoting active, safe and healthy living environments, access to and consumption of healthy foods and contributes to long-term community health improvement. Funding is intended to address upstream issues that affect the health of a community. It is not designed to fund temporary food assistance or disease management programs. Previous MATCH grant projects include trail development, playground construction and healthy eating initiatives such as community gardens.
