Waterfowl Refuges Remain Closed During Duck Season

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is reminding hunters that waterfowl refuges remain closed to any access until the day after duck season ends; and this year, that season is closing later than in previous years. There are three different waterfowl zones in Iowa. The season closed Sunday in the north zone, but will not close until Dec. 15 in the south zone and Dec. 18 in the Missouri River zone. The refuges are always closed to duck and goose hunting, but hunters are allowed to hunt non-waterfowl species there after the close of the duck season.
