The Iowa Corn Growers Association is placing a focus on sustainability at this year’s Farm Progress Show, getting underway today (Tuesday) in Boone. From 2 to 3 p.m. each afternoon during the three-day event, they will be talking water quality at their booth, with a panel of moderators that includes: Iowa Secretary of Agriculture, Bill Northey; Iowa Agribusiness Radio Network broadcaster, Ben Nuelle; Iowa Agriculture Water Alliance Executive Director, Sean McMahon; along with other members and producers affiliated with the Iowa Corn Growers Association. The panel will provide details on the water quality initiatives already in place across the state and how farmers can take advantage of these programs. Attendees will also hear first-hand the challenges, successes and lessons learned by other farmers who have implemented water conservation practices and they will learn more about the Nutrient Reduction Strategy and the resources available to them.
