Wall Lake Seeks To Stabilize Revenue And Save Customers Money With Utility Update

The City of Wall Lake reviewed an ordinance update on Monday, Nov. 14, and the adjustment may even save some customers money in the long run. Wall Lake bills customers primarily on a variable usage rate currently, and are looking to make that revenue more stable with this change according to Chris Rodman, Wall Lake’s city clerk.

There are three different types of energy users in Wall Lake, residential, commercial and industrial. The primary concern from the city is to ensure costs are fair for their customers. The city ordered a survey from the non-profit Municipal Energy Association of Nebraska (MEAN) to see the potential effects of this change.

The changes will see the dollar amount of bills change, but Rodman thinks users will be pleased with the result.

The Wall Lake City Council approved the change unanimously at Monday’s meeting. It will not change the city’s revenue by a large margin, but it will make the money coming into the city more consistent from month to month.
