Unemployment Rates Up From Same Time Last Year

The unemployment rate in the eight-county Western Iowa Advantage Region for February of 2016 reflected an increase of .3 percent to 4.7 percent over the same time period last year. Carroll County remains at the lowest end of the spectrum with 3.1 percent, followed by Greene with 3.7, Ida with 3.8 and Sac with 4.3 percent. Adair County recorded 4.4 percent unemployment for February and Audubon came in at 4.8 with Greene County close behind at 5 percent. Crawford County continues to see their rates rise, hitting 7.2 percent last month. The figures, from Iowa Workforce Development, show the state seeing an overall decline in unemployment from 4.1 percent in 2015 to 3.7 percent in February of 2016.
