The Northwest District Speech contest was held at Kuemper High School this past Saturday, and students were not only working hard on rehearsing and performing, they were also busy helping set-up and host the event with the aid of parents and their coaches: Susan Glass; Sue Murphy; Jake Gute; Lydia Schettler; and Deb Gute. Of the 27 performances put on by Kuemper students, 21 of those received a “1” rating and will advance to state on March 12 at Woodbury Central in Moville. The remaining six participants received “2” ratings. Coach Deb Gute said that they received some great comments from the judges for students to work on some technical things in the next two weeks.
