Treats On The Streets Gives Coon Rapids Families And Businesses A New Take On Trick-Or-Treating

When most Halloween revelers think of trick-or-treating, the first things that come to mind are candy and a chilly October night, but in Coon Rapids they are changing the well-established trope that Halloween fun only takes place at night. The city is hosting the second year of Treats on the Streets on Saturday, Oct. 29, and Coon Rapids City Clerk, Jesica Leighty, says holding trick-or-treating events earlier in the day allows for more of the community to be involved.

Katie Mason with the Coon Rapids Enterprise came up with the idea to get local businesses involved in Halloween while working with the Christmas in a Small Town committee and the response for the first year was great notes Leighty. She says Treats on the Streets is in addition to the regularly scheduled Halloween times in town.

Families wanting to participate in the event will meet at 10 a.m. the Saturday before Halloween at the corner of 4th and Main Street in Coon Rapids where there will be a short parade for the costumed kids and a trick-or-treat walk with the local businesses.
