Tractor Forced Off Road By Passing Vehicle

A farm tractor was forced off the roadway east of Dana yesterday morning (Thursday) and ended up rolling onto its side. The Greene County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene in the 2300 block of 170th Street at approximately 10:06 a.m. Thirty-eight-year-old Michael Joseph Coil of Jefferson reported he was driving the tractor eastbound on 170th Street, when a vehicle attempted to pass him, but then moved back into his lane to avoid an oncoming car. Coil said he drove the tractor onto the shoulder of the roadway to avoid the vehicle, but the John Deere 4450 went into the ditch. Coil was uninjured, but the tractor, owned by James Holz of rural Grand Junction, is estimated to be a total loss.
